AVON — Chief Jeffrey Bukunt announces that the Avon Police Department is participating in a fundraiser this month through the organization Cops for Kids with Cancer.

Avon officers are participating in “No Shave November” this month, along with many police officers from across the country. Officers will be raising awareness as well as donations during the month of November to support Cops for Kids with Cancer.

Cops for Kids with Cancer offers assistance to families who have children battling cancer by providing financial support to remove certain burdens relating to medical care.

Approximately 10,470 children in the United States under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in 2022. Residents or businesses who would like to join the Avon Police Department’s efforts are encouraged to click here or visit the Cops for Kids with Cancer website to donate to the cause. Donations can be made in any amount, and those donating online will have the option of dedicating their donation in honor of a specific person.

“Cops for Kids with Cancer has been a tremendous partner for departments across the region for many years and we are pleased to be participating in this initiative this year,” Chief Bukunt said. “We encourage any resident or business owner who would like to contribute to visit our department’s page and make a donation during the month.”
