AVON — The Avon Board of Selectmen and the Avon Public Library Board of Trustees would like to announce the recent retirement of Avon Public Library Director Ann Fogg.
Fogg’s last day at the library was June 30. She had been the Director of the Library since March 2017.
Prior to being named Director, Fogg served as Interim Director from August 2016 through March 2017 and was the Assistant Librarian from 2006 through 2011. Prior to joining the Town of Avon, she was a Substitute Library Clerk at Ventress Memorial Library in Marshfield from 2005-2006.
Fogg is certified by the Massachusetts Library System and has a bachelor’s degree from North Adams State College (now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts).
Fogg was the Library Director during some major renovations to the Avon Public Library building, including the addition of a new heating and cooling system, roof repairs, new carpeting and most recently a new family/handicapped bathroom on the main floor of the building, as well as a wheelchair lift in 2020. She also advocated for the hiring of a much-needed Children’s Library Assistant in 2019 to increase youth programming for the library.
“Ann has been a dedicated employee for the town for about 15 years in various capacities at the Avon Public Library. Under her leadership, the building has seen several positive renovations to ensure a more welcoming environment for all visitors,” Town Administrator Gregory Enos said. “With her direction, the APL has improved and focused on various children’s programs as well as working to provide various online programing during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Ann’s husband also retired at the end of June, and they plan on traveling and enjoying outdoor activities such as kayaking in the future. They live in Marshfield and have two adult sons.
