First Death Related To COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
With heavy hearts, the Avon Board of Selectmen and the Board of Health regret to inform you that an Avon resident has passed away this weekend due to COVID-19 related complications. This is Avon’s first death related to the virus. On behalf of the Town, we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones. Out of concern for the privacy of the individual who passed away, the Town of Avon will not be releasing any further information about their identity.
Currently, there are 21 positive cases in Avon.
Avon residents should continue to take every precaution to protect themselves. It is vital to maintain social distancing (6 feet apart), limit exposure to others, avoid crowded places, stay at home as much as possible and to continue handwashing and personal hygiene efforts in order to slow the spread of this disease.
If you begin to show symptoms of COVID-19 you should contact your doctor. Symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath. Additional symptoms to be aware of are; abdominal pain, chills, diarrhea, headaches, muscle aches/pain, sore throat and vomiting. The Avon Board of Health strongly advises that anyone who feels ill, remain at home, call their doctor and self-quarantine.
