Common Questions and Answers about how to get tested.

The Town of Randolph is partnering with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Governor Baker’s Office and Physician’s One medical care to participate in the “Stop the Spread” campaign. Randolph is offering free Covid-19 testing to anyone who would like to get tested. This is the PCR test and not the Rapid Test. You do not need to have symptoms or health insurance to get tested and it is a free service.

When will the Covid-19 Test Center be open?
The testing center will be open on the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, August 1, 2020 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Tuesday, August 4, 2020 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, August 8, 2020 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Tuesday, August 11, 2020 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Where will the test take place?
The testing site is located at the Randolph Intergenerational Community Center, (RICC), 128 Pleasant Street in Randolph and it is by appointment only. Up to two hundred people, (200) may be tested per day. Enter via the RICC main entrance at 128 Pleasant Street, Randolph.

Who can get tested?
All residents, visitors and workers are welcome to get tested, regardless of their health insurance or immigration status. There is no fee and no Doctor’s order is required. No Health Insurance is required. You are especially encouraged to get tested if you have one or more of the following symptoms: a fever of 100.4 °F or higher, cough, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, shortness of breath, unusual fatigue, chills, body aches, diarrhea, abdominal pain and/or loss of smell or taste. You do not need to have symptoms to be tested.

What kind of test is performed on site?
Molecular Test. It is also more commonly called the Polymerise Chain Reaction (PCR) tests. PCR test detects viral RNA. Viruses are small particles of genetic material, (DNA or RNA) that are surrounded by a protein coat. The Covid -19 PCR test can tell whether or not someone has the virus by looking for the RNA genetic material from the Covid-19 Virus. Health care workers collect fluid from nasal cavities with a swab. Samples collected in Randolph are sent away to a private laboratory to be analyzed.

How long will it take for me to get the test results?
It will take at least 48 to 72 hours before the test results are available, depending on the testing capacity of the private analytical lab. The testing lab is not located in the Town of Randolph.

What happens when I arrive on site?
Enter from the RICC main entrance located at 128 Pleasant Street. You will be greeted by a Medical Reserve Corp, (MRC) volunteer. Translation services will be available Haitian Creole, Vietnamese and other languages. Participants arriving by car who have an appointment must stay in their car. If participants do not have a face covering, one will be provided. The first tent will be for the greeter who will get you checked in when you arrive because you pre-registered. An information packet will be waiting for you at the first tent. You will be instructed to drive to the second tent where you will be “swabbed” by a medical professional. Every effort will be taken to maintain Social Distancing, except during the “swabbing” process.
